PINEHURST — Linda Goodwin Locklear, 81, of Pinehurst, formerly of Hamlet, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Pinehurst Health & Rehab, Pinehurst.
She was born Aug. 30, 1940, in Richmond County, son of the late Carson and Lizzie Goodwin.
Ms. Locklear was a member of Shining Light Free Will Baptist Church. She loved her church and loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carson and Lizzie Morrison Goodwin; and daughter, Janet Prevatte.
She is survived by her children, Vernon “Spanky” Self (Pam) of Rockingham and Sue Cooper (Junior) of Laurel Hill; grandchildren, Amy Self, Melinda Arnette (Ernie), Tony Self (Brooke), and Ian Self (Amanda); sister, Aleen McKenzie of Hamlet; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 1-2 p.m. at Shining Light Free Will Baptist Church.
The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., following visitation, with Pastor Tug Gainey officiating. Burial will follow at Northam Cemetery, Rockingham.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her son, Spanky and Pam Self, 118 Maness Ave., Rockingham.
