Ray and Lisa married Aug. 26, 1978, in Concord and later welcomed their two children.

Lisa worked for the City of Concord for 21 years, and recently retired in September of 2020.  She was known as the “Payroll Queen” for many years and enjoyed assisting fellow employees throughout her tenure. Lisa coordinated the Mayor’s Annual Golf Tournament for 20 years, held at the Rocky River Golf Club. She heavily enjoyed this event and looked forward to the annual planning to ensure it was a huge success. Lisa never met a stranger within the City of Concord’s organization and treasured the many impactful friendships she created over the years.

Lisa was an active member of the Junior Charity League of Concord and volunteered in the Mariam C. Schramm Clothing Room, serving students in Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City Schools. Lisa was a committee chairman of the Gift Wrap program at Concord Mills, and participated with the League’s annual Garden Tour, Easter Egg fundraiser, For the Children Cookbook sales, etc.  She also particpated in the annual Safety Town event.

In Lisa’s free time, she enjoyed her family, shopping, and vacationing. She and Ray enjoyed attending Spiders on the Beach in Ocean Drive, for an annual high school reunion, as well as many visits to The Allman Brothers Museum in Macon, Georgia. Lisa loved vacationing in Hilton Head Island with her family, traveling to the mountains, and farther trips to upstate New York to visit extended family.  She also looked forward to annual family reunions in Rockingham to celebrate with extended aunts, uncles and cousins. An annual Girls’ Beach Weekend was a tradition for Lisa and her lifelong friends.  Lisa enjoyed attending concerts with her husband and children. She was always the life of the party. She loved to dance, socialize and welcome all with a huge hug! Upon recently retiring, she treasured picking up her grandson from school and taking him for rounds of miniature golf and afternoon treats.

The most important thing to Lisa was love, her family, and loving her family. Her husband, children, grandson, granddaughter and nephews were her world. Her legacy of love and family will continue to live vicariously through them.

The family is comforted knowing that Lisa is at home with her eternal Savior Jesus Christ. She was dedicated to her faith in the Lord throughout her life.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at Dennis Vineyards, where the family has many memories. This will take place on Sunday, June 6 at 24056 Endy Road in Albemarle.  The family invites you to drop in between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. to enjoy Lisa’s favorite lunch from the What-a-Burger food truck and to share your best Lisa stories!
