Marie Bullard Griffin

ROCKINGHAM — Marie Bullard Griffin, 86, of Rockingham passed away Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022.

She was born July 2, 1935 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Luther and Willard Scott Bullard.

She was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church and the church choir. Marie enjoyed teaching the Mother’s Sunday school class at Maple Street Free Will Baptist Church for many years. She is best known for her crockpot steak and gravy and her homemade pineapple cream cheese cakes.

Her late husband “Mr. Griffin” and she enjoyed their grape vineyard and customers they had. A lot of them became like family over the years. Her love for working at Burlington Industries never ended. She made many friends throughout the years of working there. After retiring she became a homemaker. Her work was never done.

She and her husband raised three boys and a daughter. She loved all of her grandkids and great-grands, but one of her most cherished joys was helping raise her grandson, Griffin Manivanh. There is nothing like a mother’s love. And she was a true image of that. Mrs. Griffin was a Godly mother and praying mother. She will be dearly missed by many and reunited by many along with her Lord and Savior and the Love of her life of 62 years, Mr. Murray Griffin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Murray Griffin; and her siblings, Bruce Bullard, Leonard Bullard, Norman “Knot” Bullard, Larry Bullard and Gail Bullard.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. David Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park.
