ROCKINGHAM — Marley Gaston Long, 83, completed his earthly journey and entered into the kingdom of heaven on Friday, May 7, 2021.
Mr. Long was born March 30, 1938 in Richmond County, a son of the late Marley Martin and Ruth Thrower Long.
He was a longtime member of the Church of God of Prophecy, had worked with J.P. Stevens, and retired from LOF Glass in Laurinburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Long Caulder; a grandson, Willie Caulder; and a sister, Peggy Collins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 1/2 years, Carol Haywood Long; daughter, Lisa Long Gulledge (Billy); grandchildren, Chris Poole, Krystal Brunkhorst, Christina Poole and Kandice Williams; great-grandchildren, Tristan Poole, Ava Poole, Lillie Caulder, Kendall Brunkhorst, Wayne Robbins Jr., Trevor Robbins, Allison Poole, Carleigh Hammonds and Kaylee Williams; a brother, M.C. Long; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Charles Goins.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Richmond County Memorial Park with the Rev. Mackie Walters and Pastor Steve Gilmer officiating.
The family will greet friends from 5–7 p.m. Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. Face coverings are required and please keep social distancing in mind.
