Martha Bryte Bowers

KING — Martha Bryte Lane Bowers, 91, of King, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 6, 2022, with her beloved family by her side.

Mrs. Bowers was born on Nov. 5, 1930, in Randolph County, to the late Guy Foust and Ollie Bryte Elam Lane. 

She was a retired schoolteacher that taught eighth and ninth grade math and science. She enjoyed working in her yard. She was a longtime caregiver of her family members and loved her family dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Spotswood Boyd Bowers; a brother, William “Bill” Lane, and two sisters, Elizabeth “Lib” Spencer and Margret “Marjean” McDonald.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Deborah Bowers Oliver (Neal) and Martha Bryte Bowers; two sons, Spotswood Boyd Bowers Jr. (Debbie) and Parker Anderson Bowers (Brenda); and two grandchildren, Joe Oliver and Lane Oliver. 

A Celebration of Life open house will take place on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at her home.
