FUQUAY-VARINA — Mary Lou Crader King, 85, of Fuquay-Varina, formerly of Hamlet, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Wake Medical, Cary.

Mrs. King was born Dec. 7, 1935 in Burfordville, Missouri, daughter of Charlie Crader and Recel Cotner Crader.

While living in Hamlet, Mrs. King was the administrator of Britthaven, which is now Richmond Pines Healthcare; was on the board of directors of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamlet; and was treasurer of AMVETS Post 316. She loved being outdoors, whether working in her flowers or bird watching. She was sports fan of women’s basketball, her favorite team being the University of Tennessee, and also a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

A graveside service will be held at Richmond Memorial Park, Monday, March 8, 2021, at 1 p.m.

Burial will follow.

She is survived by her husband, David Ray King of the home; daughters, Kathy King of Fuquay-Varina and Kristina King of Willow Spring; sons, Kevin David King of Bristow, Virginia, and Keith King of Fuquay-Varina; brother, Danny Crader of Missouri; and sister, Evelyn Wallman of Jackson, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Alzheimer’s Research, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601; as a nursing home administrator, she saw for years the devastation that the disease causes and always supported their research.
