CLAYTON — Mary Summerford Wilson, 93, formerly of Ellerbe, passed away at her daughter’s home in Clayton Tuesday, March 19, 2019.
Born June 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William and Lizzie Gibson Summerford and the widow of the late James Middleton Wilson (1920-1994).
Prior to retirement, she had worked in the textile industry. She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother to her family. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Warwick (Mike) of Clayton; a son, Keith Wilson of Selma; four grandchildren, Chad Griffin, Michael Wilson, Angel Thompson and Crystal Johnson; plus eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Dwight and Gary Wilson; one brother, James Summerford; and three sisters, Ethel Summerford, Polly Wright and Cleo Hogan.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at Exway Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Helms officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:45 at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
