ROCKINGHAM — Maryland Norton Biggers, 95, completed her earthly journey Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021 at Richmond Hospice Haven.
She was born in Cumberland County on Dec. 19, 1925, a daughter of the late Edmond David Norton and Ella Jane Wilkes Norton.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Edward Norton, who died in 1972; and her husband, Ralph Biggers, who died in 1979.
She resided most of her life in Richmond County and graduated from Rockingham High School. For many years, she and her husband managed the Trailways bus station in Rockingham. She previously attended West Rockingham United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one nephew, Joseph T. “Joe” Norton, of Rockingham. Although she had no children, she loved animals, especially dogs, and often cared for several while she was able. She also enjoyed growing flowers and gardening.
