ROCKINGHAM — Michael Dwayne Thompson, 56, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020, in Atrium Hospital, Pineville.
He was born in Richmond County, July 1, 1964, son of Robert Thompson and Barbara Brooks Chappell.
Michael worked in textiles before becoming disabled.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Cribb Thompson.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Chappell of Hamlet; daughters, Ashley T. Goodwin (Cody) of Laurel Hill and Tierra Thompson (Brian) of Rockingham; son, David Lee Thompson (Shannon) of Laurel Hill; grandchildren, Teresa, Alyssa, Sierra, Kenneth, and Skylar; sisters, Angela Chappell Bass of Laurel Hill, Christy “Shay” Chappell of Marston and Shannon Chappell of Hamlet; also forever remembered by his nephews, Marcus (Dillon) Hutchinson, Mark (Tool) Hutchinson Jr., Benjamin Bass and Christian Kane Chappell; niece, Angelica Bass; and great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at a later date to be determined by the family.
