Myrtle E. McDonald

ELLERBE — Ms. Myrtle E. McDonald, of Ellerbe, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021. Ms. McDonald passed at home, surrounded by her family.

She was born to the late Walter E. McDonald and Dorothy E. Hamm McDonald on March 22, 1951 in Moore County.

She was a devoted daughter, caring for both of her parents at home prior to their deaths, and a beloved sister and aunt.

Ms. McDonald retired in 2016 as an administrative assistant from Klaussner Furniture after 20 years of service. She had previously worked at Oxford Industries for 23 years.

Ms. McDonald was a dedicated Christian, having accepted the Lord Jesus as her Saviour in the fall of 1971. She was a founding member of Debry Baptist Church and spent the majority of her life as a member of Debry Baptist until 2004, except for a brief period when she was member of Pleasant Hill Baptist. She joined Victory Baptist Church in Rockingham in 2004 and remained an actively engaged and a dedicated member of Victory until her death. Ms. McDonald rarely missed attending a service in person until the last year of her life when COVID and her declining health prevented her from attending in person. However, she faithfully continued to listen to each of Victory’s services each week via Facebook. In her church life over the years, she served as a church treasurer, church clerk, Sunday school teacher and pianist, among other acts of service.
