MOUNT GILEAD — Mrs. Nancy Donathan Bristow, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Autumn Care of Biscoe.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2019 by the graveside in Long Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 637 Capelsie Road, Candor. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Nancy was born April 22, 1939 in Richmond County, one of 11 children of the late Robie Calvin Donathan and the late Pearl King Donathan. She owned and operated Nanny’s Day Care for more than 35 years in Raleigh. Following retirement, she and her husband moved back to Montgomery County to be near their families.
Surviving are her son, Ron Bristow of Greensboro; her brother and sisters, Bill Donathan and wife, Marie of Wadesboro, Ernestine Stevenson of Biscoe, Mary Pelzinski of Hope Mills and Feliet Bahoric and husband, Al of Raeford; and her nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Bristow, and sisters and brothers, Frances Reynolds, R.J. Donathan, Claudia Strider, Turner Donathan, Diane Wallace and Kirby Donathan.
Nancy will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and sister. She touched many lives while operating her day care and children still refer to her as their Nanny today.
Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Autumn Care of Biscoe and FirstHealth Hospice for the loving manner in which they cared for Nancy over the past few months.
