Naomi Cumber Outlaw

ROCKINGHAM — Naomi Cumber Outlaw, 91, of Rockingham, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven.

She was born on March 15, 1931 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Elbridge and Rachel Steen Cumber.

Mrs. Outlaw retired from the textile Industry and was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Wallace, South Carolina. She loved spending time with her family and friends, enjoyed baking cakes and cooking, and was Randy Travis’ biggest fan! Her other hobbies included finding treasures at the flea market, going out to eat, as well as spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben “Uncle Ben” Outlaw; and siblings, Hazel Elkins, Lee English, Margaret Hatcher, J.B. Cumber, Ed Cumber and Lib Watson.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Wayne Shaw and the Rev. Lee Griffith. Burial will follow at Northam Cemetery Extension.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Spivey and husband Sonny of Rockingham; Grandchildren, Joe Spivey of Rockingham, Amy Allen and husband Jamie of Rockingham; Great grandchildren, Jordan Griffith and husband Joseph of Rockingham, Jameson Allen and Sophie Allen; Sister, Inez Smith of York, SC; Brother, Perry Cumber of Rockingham.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, April 4, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at 123 Ashworth Lane, Rockingham.
