FAYETTEVILLE — Naomie Willoughby Steen, 98, of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital, Fayetteville, after a battle with COVID-19.
She was born in Robeson County June 4, 1923, daughter of Luther Agusta Willoughby and Minnie Monroe Willoughby.
Naomie was a person that loved her life and wanted no changes; she had a ritual of breakfast and coffee, a grilled cheese at lunch and cream of chicken soup with only a certain amount of crackers at dinner time. Her favorite pastimes were watching westerns all day, eating chocolate covered cherries and her “Snuff.” She was blessed with a great sense of humor! She will be missed!
A graveside service will be held Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Chavis Cemetery, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Steen; and a brother and several sisters.
Survivors are her niece (and caregiver), Grace Meuse of the home; and two great-nieces, who also help Naomie, Georgia Velazquez and Marlena Hill, both of Fayetteville.
Harrington Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family of Mrs. Steen.
