ROCKINGHAM — Barbara Benoist Jarrell, 82, of Rockingham, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, April 22, 2023.
Barbara is the daughter of the late Charlie and Stacy Garrett Benoist, born on Sept. 14, 1940 in Richmond County.
Barbara was known by many as “Pretty Lady” and her grandchildren, who she loved dearly, gave her the nickname “Mimi.”
Barbara was a loving and hardworking woman. Providing for her family, Barbara worked at Sara Lee Hosiery for 43 years as a quality control specialist. She found joy in the little things and embraced every moment by showing love to anyone she came in contact with. To know her was to love her. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren sharing many moments throughout their day. Barbara was a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church and, just like her own, loved her church family very much.
Along with her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Jarrell; and great-granddaughter Chloe. The family finds great comfort knowing that Barbara was met at the Gates of Heaven by her beloved family.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Judy Field (Clyde); granddaughters, Stacy McClain, Kim Lyerly (James); grandsons, Bobby Field (Misty), Clyde Field; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Marley and Mavery Hooks, Ryelan, Kinsey and Hunter Lyerly, Wesley, Chloe, Alyssa, Addie, Daniel and Noah Field; siblings, Dorothy Barrett, Wilma Gibson, Johnny Benoist (Linda), Mary (Frank) McDougall; and her shopping partner/niece, Lou Ann Gibson. Barbara also leaves behind her beloved dog Angel, and many friends who all loved her dearly.
The family will receive family and friends Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. at Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Rockingham, North Carolina. Funeral services will follow at 5 p.m. with Associate Pastor David Lee officiating.
