ROCKINGHAM — Betty Jo Wallace Hatchell, 58, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Sunday, March 26, 2023.
Betty Jo was born Nov. 16, 1964 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina, a daughter of Dorothy Jordan Wallace Burr and the late Paul Joel Wallace.
She was the owner and operator of Gingerbread Day Care in Hamlet and BJ’s Day Care in Rockingham.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Paul Wallace Jr., James Wallace, Ann Caulford and Carolyn Crowley.
Surviving are her daughters, Meredith Hatchell and Megan Webb; grandson, Bentley Warwick; mother, Dorothy Burr; sisters, Myrtle Ratliff, Katherine Wright, Patricia Davis (Wesley), Sherry Wallace and Judy Knight; and her companion, Ernest Lammonds.
A service to celebrate her life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Joy Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor June Grant officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:45–2:45 p.m. Saturday at the church and at other times at Meredith’s Home, 159 Ivy Trail, Rockingham.
