OBITUARY: Brenda Carolyn Snead

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Brenda Carolyn Snead, 80, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023.

She was best known as Bren or Grammie to her nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

Brenda was born on Nov. 2, 1942, in Rockingham to John and Nell Snead.

She is survived by one brother, Michael (Eunice) Snead; two grandsons, Ryan (Candice) Kirk, Riley Kirk; one great-grandson, Spencer Kirk; and many nieces and nephews she dearly loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nell Snead; her brothers and sisters, Virginia Snead, Monroe Snead, Catherine Ballard, Mildred Snead, Glenn Snead, Joyce Bridges, Doris Coble, Gray Meggs and Martha Surrett.

Brenda graduated from Rockingham High School, received her degree in education from Appalachian State, and later received her Master of Education from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She spent over 35 years loving and teaching elementary students with most of those years at Clifton Hills Elementary in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Brenda was a long-time member of Brainerd Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with a graveside service at Richmond County Memorial Park. The service will be led by Dr. Tony Wilson and Rev. David Beckner.

The family will welcome visitors at other times at her niece’s home located at 110 Fairway Drive in Rockingham.
