HAMLET — Caren Jean England Zachary, 71, of Hamlet, passed away peacefully Friday, April 14, 2023 at her home.
She was born Aug. 6, 1951, in Cleveland County, daughter of the late Walter Cleo England and Geneva Carroll England.
Caren was a strong lady and good-hearted. She would feed anyone in need and always had a place open at her kitchen table. She was a family lady and loved her family with her whole heart, especially her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Nana.” She would do whatever was needed to get things done. She will be missed greatly.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Ken Zachary; and siblings, Woody England, Frieda Graham, and Betty Jo Plummer.
Caren is survived by her husband of 47 years, William Kenneth Zachary Sr. of the home; daughters, Angel Zachary Patton of Hamlet and Rebecca Zachary Miles of Hamlet; grandchildren, Austin Miles (Trinity), Camron Miles, Destinee Chavis (Blaine), Kaylee Miles (Kevin Nguyen), Taylor Miles, Tiffany Zachary, Zachary Patton and Gavin Buie; six great-grandchildren; and nephews and niece, Lee Graham, Curtis Graham, Timmy Butler and Vickie Butler.
Visitation will be Monday, April 17, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Abundant Life Church, Rockingham, with Pastor Joe Wilkes and the Rev. Jim Bowers officiating. Burial will follow at the Hamlet Church of God of Prophecy cemetery.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the family home, 700 Oak Ave., Hamlet.
