Carolyn Sue Yates, 73, of Hamlet, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023 at her home.
She was born May 16, 1950, in Richmond County, daughter of the late Lee Yates and Bertie Mae Mabe.
Carolyn worked as a sewing instructor in textiles for many years. She attended Jefferson Park Free Will Baptist Church and loved her church family. She was a faithful lady and loved the Lord. She had a love for singing and a gift of playing the piano. Over the years, she enjoyed spending time going to consignment shops and thrift stores. Carolyn dearly loved her family and she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Yates and Bertie Mae Ingram; sisters, Mary Harbin and Beulah Smith; and her beloved grandchildren, Jeremy Jacobs and Paige Davis.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Locklear (Robbie) and twin daughters, Jerri Evans and Terri Grant (Earl), all of Rockingham; grandchildren, Matthew Jacobs (Jessie), Taylor Spencer, Payton Davis, Andrew Davis, Caleb Evans, Dylan Evans, Shana Grant and Brooke Grant; and great-grandchildren, Olivia Fann and Briar Jacobs.
All services will be held privately by the family.
