Charlene Howell Bailey, 69, of Hamlet, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2025 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 23, 1955, in Richmond County, daughter of the late J.B. Howell and Sudie Turnage Howell.
Charlene was gifted in many areas as a visionary with a creative and persistent mind. Not only with an intelligent mind and determination did she succeed in anything she set out to do, but she always was thinking of a new way to get things done. She was a hard worker and an excellent role model to her family and community. When she wanted things done and complete, she never backed down until it was finished. Her motto was “persistence pays off.” She exemplified this not only with words but with her actions.
Charlene thoroughly enjoyed thrift store shopping and had a love of animals, as was evident with her farm that she and her husband Ricky established over the last several years. She was dedicated to her family, including being a wonderful mother and grandmother. Charlene was fierce when it came to her family. She loved them dearly and was constantly there for her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Sudie Turnage Howell.
Charlene is survived by her loving husband, Ricky Bailey of the home; daughters, Nicole Bailey Pait (Allen) of Hamlet, Wendy Bailey Brigman (Ronnie) of Rockingham, and Meredith Bailey Barber (Will) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Nicholas Pait, Bailey Butler (Sammie), Madison Goodwin (Dylon), Ricki Carter (Justice Buie), Matthew Pait, Madelyn Barber and Shelby Barber; great-grandchildren, Cali Pait and Adalyn Butler; mother-in-law, Jeanette Evans-Bailey of Albertsville, Alabama; and brothers, Larry Howell (Donna) of Gastonia and Terry Howell (Kathy Allred) of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025 beginning at 1 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, Airport Road, Rockingham, with the Rev. David Lee officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Richmond County Animal Shelter, 529 W U.S. 74 Hwy., Rockingham, NC 28379.
