Clarence “Ray” Taylor, 65 of Rockingham, passed away on Sept. 26, 2023 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.
He was born Nov., 19, 1957 in Laurinburg. He was the son of the late Paul Smith and Ottie Bell Taylor.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, David.
Clarence departed this earth leaving behind his loving and devoted wife of 27 years, Teresa Taylor of the home;, sons Dustin Bowman (Jennifer), Brandon Bowman (Elizabeth), William Hoffman, Robert Hoffman, Jonathan Hoffman and Devon Hoffman, all of Rockingham; daughter, Mary Bowman of Rockingham; brothers, Steve Taylor (Vickie) of Hamlet, Danny Taylor (Tracie) of Rockingham; a sister, Selina Taylor of Rockingham; and many loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family.
“Ray” was a devoted employee of Bojangles in Rockingham for over 30 years. He loved cooking and running the kitchen, the staff and the management. Ray loved his annual vacations with his family and looked forward to planning a new destination every year. After he suffered a stroke in 2018, he was homebound but enjoyed listening to country music, watching movies and spending time and hollering for “Woman,” his wife and soulmate.
The family will receive friends and family Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023 at Abundant Life Church in Rockingham from 10-11 a.m. The memorial service will follow immediately after at 11 a.m.
