OBITUARY: Claudette Reaves Stone

Claudette Reaves Stone, 74, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.

She was born Feb. 27, 1950, daughter of the late Joseph Aaron Reaves and Jessie Eugenia Ballard Reaves.

Claudette was a member of Midway Baptist Church and loved her church and church family. She loved doing yardwork, planting flowers, fishing, and even enjoyed housework. She certainly enjoyed the little things in life. She loved people and never met a stranger.

Claudette’s most important loves were her family. Her strength and fight were evident over the last several years while battling cancer as she still kept up her tenacity to live and encouragement to others. She will truly be missed by her family and everyone who loved her.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Delbert Reaves; sister, Carol Allen; and her beloved dog, Daisy.

Claudette is survived by her children, Jennifer Beacom (Alan) of Kernersville, Joseph Reaves of Gibson, Robert Morton (Andrea) of Salisbury, and Billy Morton of High Point; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Loretta Fountain (Charles) of Holden Beach; beloved niece, Lisa Lassiter, and husband Richard, of Rockingham; special friend, Autrey “Buck” Wallace of Cheraw, South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 2-3 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.

A Celebration of Life service will begin, immediately following the visitation, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Richardson officiating.
