Cookie Maxine Clark, 73, of Rockingham, passed away on Nov. 4, 2024 peacefully at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital.
Cookie was born in Rockingham on Oct. 7, 1951. She is the daughter of the late Jessie Lee Eubanks Gathings and Max Cameron Clark.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two children, John Cameron Butler and Judy Renee Butler.
Survivors include daughters Dannette Barnes and husband Mark of Seven Lakes, and Christy Barnes of Rockingham; sisters Darlene Bean of Rockingham, Linda Joe Johnson and husband Bobby of Chickamauga Georgia; and three grandchildren, Brandon Dean, Michael Ingram and Jackson Barnes.
Cookie loved horseback riding and had a beloved horse named Sir Dub and companion horse, Cheyenne, who were a big part of her life. She loved nature and all animals.
She always told people, “When I am gone, whenever you see a shooting star, it will be me and the Dubs riding through the universe with Cheyenne following behind.”
A celebration of life will be held privately by the immediate family at a later date.
