OBITUARY: David James Marshburn Jr.

David James Marshburn Jr. completed his earthly journey of 53 years on to his eternal resting place of peace with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023.

He was born on Dec. 26, 1969, in Rockingham, son of Mary Lucille Wilkerson and the late David James Marshburn Sr.

Growing up, David developed a passion for playing baseball and working with his hands. Living on his family’s farm was his legacy. Never fearing the unknown, he went on to become an electrician. He could build or fix anything. David took great pleasure in riding; it didn’t matter on what and fast was the only speed he knew. He was a free spirit and always had a young-at-heart wild side, with amazing grace. He loved his family and he loved good music. His beloved daughters and grandkids were his pride and joy. Throughout all of life’s trials and tribulations, he remained faithful to God’s plan.

David is preceded in death by his father, David James Marshburn Sr.; stepfather, Bill Snipes; maternal grandparents, William John Wilkerson and Connell Crisco Wilkerson; paternal grandparents, Walter J. Marshburn and Dorothy “Dot” Marshburn; and uncle, Thomas Wilkerson.

He is survived by his daughters, Emily Nguyen (Victor) of Hamlet and Jamie Marshburn of Rockingham; mother, Mary Lucille Wilkerson Snipes of Rockingham; grandchildren, Ella and Victor Nguyen; sister, Cynthia “Cindy” Teglas of Rockingham; nephew, Steve Teglas of Thomasville; uncle, Randy Wilkerson (Debbie) of Badin Lake; and close friend, Danny Ray Peele.

The family would like to send a heart-felt thank you to his friends who stayed loyal throughout the years.
