Dawne Wheeler Herrick, 62, of Rockingham passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
She was born Aug. 15, 1961 in Charleston, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Harold and Sharon Peck Wheeler.
Dawne enjoyed bowling in Richmond County Women’s Bowling League, dancing, listening to music and laying out by the pool. She worked several years at Winn Dixie. Before leaving there to help start a family business, D&D Lawn Care, then worked at KFC around seven years working her way up to store manager.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Rockingham with the Rev. Jason Lutz officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park.
Surviving her husband of 33 years, Dean Herrick; children, Wayne Turner and Chris Turner and wife Ashley; stepchildren, Deena Herrick, Shannon Blevins and Dean Herrick Jr.; grandchildren, Landan, Nathan, Maleigha, Neely and C.J. ; three great grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph Wheeler.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
