ROCKINGHAM — Ms. Debbie Chavis Clevenger, 69, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully on Aug. 23, 2022, at Richmond Memorial Hospital.
Debbie was born Sept. 29, 1952, in Richmond County to the late John and Carolina “Carolyn” Chavis.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, John K. Chavis Jr.; and sisters, Patricia Holmes, Margie Rhye and Kathy Withers as well as her children; Tammy Wilder, Michelle Layton and Randy Griffin.
Debbie leaves to cherish her memory three granddaughters, Brandy Covington of Bean Station, Tennessee, Carolynn Wright of Florence, South Carolina, and Gabriella Wright of Rockingham; four great-granddaughters, Nara Marone of Seattle, Washington, Tirsa Covington-Cruz and Sabrina Cruz, of Cameron, and Kayelynn Chambers of Elizabethtown; and great-grandson, Alexander Covington of Bean Station, Tennessee. She also has many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones to cherish her memories.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022 at Cobb Memorial Baptist Church, 108 Safie 6th St., Rockingham, from 2 until 7 p.m.
