OBITUARY: Doris Jean Sellers Tucker

Doris Jean Sellers Tucker, 61, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Sept. 23, 1962 in Gaston County, daughter of the late Samuel James Sellers Jr. and Mavis Marlene Hall Sellers.

Doris was a precious lady who loved God, her family and friends, and her country! She was so proud to serve as a Navy reservist for eight years and will be honored as such. She was a devoted daughter, loving sister and aunt, and cared deeply for her children, Jessica, Brad and Bree. She was a wonderful Mimi to her grandchildren, Audrey and Greyson.

She was selfless and was always excited to do things for others and her family. She loved a good yard sale and junk store! Doris loved to cook, and prepared many, many delicious meals for her family. Her chicken and dumplings were always a hit, among many other dishes she learned to cook from her beloved late mother, Mavis.

She lived simply and loved deeply. She will be missed, but her family feels great comfort in knowing she is at peace and no longer in pain. Her only regrets in having to leave this world were leaving her grandchildren and not living long enough to meet Brad and Bree’s new baby, due in December. Otherwise, she was prepared to receive her Heavenly reward.

Doris is survived by her children, Jessica Tucker of Polkton and Bradford Thomas Tucker (Briana) of Rockingham; her beloved grandchildren, Audrey Grace Whitman and Greyson Tyler Whitman; brother, Philip Renee Sellers (Gloria) of Shallotte; sisters, Judy Mountain of Monroe and Kathy Howell (Lee) of Jefferson, South Carolina; nephew and nieces, Dr. Seth Thomas Howell (Veronica) of Camden, South Carolina, Brittney Howell Mager (Kevin) of Waxhaw, Erin Mountain (Lindsey) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Sarah Plyer (Ira) of Heath Springs, South Carolina; and 13 great-nieces and great-nephews.
