OBITUARY: Dorothy Watts Wiggins

ROCKINGHAM — Dorothy “Dot” Watts Wiggins, 92, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Sunday, July 17, 2022.

Mrs. Wiggins was born Dec. 8, 1929 in Anson County, a daughter of the late Pastor Grayer H. and Thelma Jones Watts.

She was a longtime member of the Rockingham Church of God of Prophecy where she sang in the choir for many years. She retired from JP Stevens Company. She was a caring and loving woman who loved her family, friends and church wholeheartedly. To know her was to love her. She will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Eugene Roller; stepson, Keith Wiggins; and siblings, Leavy Watts, Norman Watts, Virginia Dunn, Vonnie Hines and Velma Butler.

Surviving are her husband, Bobby Malcolm Wiggins; children, Kay Varner (Brent), and Elton Roller (Kathy); stepchildren, Eddie Wiggins (Marianne) and Phillip Wiggins (Darcey); 14grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Willie Watts (Eva Kay).

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the Rockingham Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Steve Gilmer and Pastor David Highlander officiating. Entombment will follow in the Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will greet friends from 11:45 a.m.–12:45 p.m. Thursday at the church and at other times at the home.
