Edward Coleman O’Neal, 96, of Rockingham, completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023.
Mr. O’Neal was born Dec. 30, 1926 in Camden, South Carolina, a son of the late Murray and Estelle O’Neal.
He was a DJ for 70 years, worked in radio ad sales and was a country music artist. In 1963, he had an album that spent 16 weeks in the top 10.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Frances Smith O’Neal and Hazel Bailey O’Neal; and brother, Murray Ervin O’Neal Jr.
Surviving are his son, Thomas Edward O’Neal (Wanda); three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023 at Ellerbe Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Moree officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
