OBITUARY: Elease Heaton Sinclair

Elease Heaton Sinclair, 92, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024 at the home of her daughter in Asheboro, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Dillon County, South Carolina, daughter of the late Johnny Samuel Heaton and Mattie Patrick Heaton.

Elease was a member of Pee Dee United Methodist Church of Rockingham. In her younger years, she worked in textiles. She then spent time as a homemaker and raising her children before going on to attend college at Richmond Community College, obtaining her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She worked with Scotland Memorial Hospital and private nursing. She enjoyed spending time at the beach with her sister, Bea. Elease was a wonderful mother, grandma, and GiGi. She will be missed by her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Martin Sinclair; son, Charles Leonard Sinclair; granddaughter, Kristen Elease Ricks; brothers, J.C. Heaton and Alex Heaton; and sister, Bea Seago.

Elease is survived by her children, John Sinclair of Rockingham; Amy Sinclair Ricks (Mark) of Asheboro, and Nancy Sinclair Davis of Greensboro; daughter-in-law, Rosalyn Sinclair of Rockingham; grandchildren, Marcus Ricks (Christina), Adam Ricks (Rebecca), Sandra Zamora, Jennifer Dallas (Michael), Josh Winslow, Christy Moss (William), Charlie Sinclair (Amanda), Corey Sinclair (Mandy), Rene Anderson, Cindy Moore (Randy), Kim Phifer (Shane) and Miranda Currie; 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; brother, Sanford Heaton of Shelby; sister, Betty Strickland of Rockingham; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024 from 1-2 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.

The funeral service will immediately begin, following visitation, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home with Pastor Darcy Knight officiating. Burial will follow at Northam Cemetery.
