HAMLET — Elsie Alden Edmunds was born April 15, 1940 in Richmond County, North Carolina, loving daughter of the late Amasa Crawford Alden and Lilia Mae Alden. She was the youngest of eight siblings. She was a 1958 graduate of Rockingham High School. She married William Charles Edmunds on March 27, 1960. They were married 63 years until her death on May 12, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and four of her sisters, Marguerite Rivers, Doris Smith, Betty Jo Foley and Peggy Taylor.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Hamlet with the Rev. Dan Blair officiating. Entombment will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park Mausoleum.
She is survived in death by her husband, Charles; and her children, Kim Calloway (Mark) of Charlotte and Chuck Edmunds (Stephanie) of Southern Pines; sisters, Priscilla Lewis of Marston, Patsy Smith of Charlotte and Jeannie Baldwin (Carey) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Lacey Steele, Rachel Calloway, Haylie Edmunds, Anna Calloway, Brady Edmunds and Will Calloway; great-grandchild, Noah Newton; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
