OBITUARY: Elvin Lewis Dycus, Betty Jo Dycus

HAMLET — Elvin Lewis Dycus and Betty Jo Still Dycus passed away peacefully on Sept. 21 and 22, 2022 at Richmond Pines.

Elvin was born Dec. 9, 1928 in Ellerbe. He worked as a loom fixer, a truck driver, and was also a handyman.

Betty was born Oct. 3, 1933 in Blacksburg, South Carolina. She worked at the S&H Green Stamp Store and K-Mart.

Elvin and Betty were married for 67 years. They were both members of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

They shared two daughters, Cathy Gaddy and Myra Campbell; one grandson, Tony Campbell (Judith); and an honorary grandson, Luke Capel.

Elvin also had two sons, Michael Dycus (Wanda) and Charles “Butch” Dycus (Carol). In addition, he had four grandchildren and multiple great- and great-great-grandchildren.

A time of visitation for Elvin and Betty will be Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home in Hamlet. A private graveside service will be held by the family.

The family would like to thank all for their support and especially the staff at Richmond Pines and HealthKeeperz Hospice where they were cared for like family.
