HAMLET — Faye Ward Locklear, 78, of Hamlet, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond, Rockingham.
She was born Nov. 29, 1943, in Columbus County, daughter of the late Franklin Matha Ward and Annie Lou Singletary Ward.
Faye worked with Sara Lee Hosiery for nearly 40 years, prior to retirement. She was a faithful member of Highland Pines Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She enjoyed working in her garden and cooking, especially loved by her family was her potato salad. She loved to stay on-the-go most all of the time. Her greatest joy was her family- she loved them dearly and enjoyed family get-togethers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin Matha and Annie Lou Ward; brothers, Owens Ward and Chester Ward; and sister, Viola Jane Locklear.
Faye is survived by her husband of 54 years, Marvin Locklear of the home; brothers, Frank Ward of Hallsboro and John Ward (Frances) of Whiteville; sister, Alice Locklear (Arnold) of Rockingham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 23, 2022 from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home.
The funeral service will begin, following the visitation, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home, with Pastor Teddy Rabon officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park.
