Felix Earl Chambers, affectionately known as “Potty,” 79, of Rockingham, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
He was born March 10, 1944, in Burlington, son of the late George Washington Chambers and Christine Davis.
Potty worked as a plumber and in maintenance during his working years. He was a faithful member of Joy Freewill Baptist Church in Hamlet and served as the choir leader for many years. He loved music, playing the bass guitar, singing, and his church family. Potty also loved to fish, watch racing and football. Growing tomatoes, as well as eating them, was a tradition he enjoyed. He dearly loved his family and will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Chambers and Christine Davis Deese; and brother, Larry Chambers.
Potty is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Brenda Harris Chambers of the home; sons, Robbie Chambers (Teina) of Albemarle and Bobby Chambers (Amy) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Justin Chambers, Courtney Chambers, Hannah Chappell (Wesley), Rebekah Chambers, Madison Brennan (Anthony) and Eli Furr; great-grandchildren, Carson, Sophia, Emma, Jackson, Landon and Nathan; sister, Jackie Faye Walker (Jack) of Rockingham; and many close family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 4, 2023 from 2-3 p.m. at Joy Freewill Baptist Church in Hamlet.
The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 3 p.m., with Pastor June Grant officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Church Cemetery, Wallace, South Carolina.
The family would like to thank the ICU staff of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Richmond, and Richmond County Hospice for the care of Mr. Chambers.
