Furman Allen Frye, 90, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023 at Autumn Care, Biscoe.
He was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Moore County, son of the late Mary Frye Jenkins.
Mr. Frye lived a simple life and devoted 67 years of marriage with his late wife, Irene, whom he dearly loved. He enjoyed nature, including taking his children on walks to collect wild grapes, pears, plums and blackberries. He also enjoyed being out in nature searching for arrowheads. He loved to watch westerns and was an avid animal lover, especially his devoted companion, Rocky.
Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene King Frye.
Mr. Frye is survived by his children, Debbie Frye Grant of Rockingham, Ava Frye Miller (David) of Kentucky, Phyllis Frye Blue of Columbia, South Carolina, and Greg Allen Frye of Ellerbe; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother, Wilbert Jenkins (Zora Ann) of West End; and sister, Shirley Short (Tim) of Carthage.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Eastside Cemetery with Pastor Kane McKenzie and the Rev. Mitchell Roller officiating. Burial will follow the service.
