OBITUARY: Geraldine Collins Culler

Geraldine “Gerry” Collins Culler, 83, passed away at her home Thursday, July 25, 2024 in Hamlet, North Carolina.

Geraldine “Gerry” Collins Culler was born on Jan. 4, 1941 in Richmond County, North Carolina, to Curtis Collins and Lena Morgan Collins.

She attended Rockingham High School and went on to work in a textile plant and dime store before working as an ER admissions REP/ switchboard operator working third shift for more than 30 years.

She married Lee Phillip Culler and had three beautiful children, Stephen Patrick, Kenneth Lee and Shannon Lynne. She attended West Rockingham Methodist Church. Gerry was able to retire and enjoy her passions. She had a love for her garden, painting, the beach and her many cats throughout the years. She was always up on the latest movies and catching up with friends. Gerry was the matriarch and will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Collins and Lena Morgan Collins; her siblings, Robert “Bobby” Collins, Inez Collins Thompson, (John) James Earl Collins, Wanda Collins Brown and Helen Collins Watson; and her husband, Phillip Lee Culler.

Geraldine (Gerry) is survived by sister, Faye Collins Bridges of Wilmington (Larry Bridges); her three children, Stephen Patrick Culler of Hamlet, Kenneth Lee Culler of Little River, South Carolina (Betty Culler), and Shannon Lynne Black of Decatur, Texas (Kirt Black). Gerry also leaves behind four grandchildren, Kenneth “Arron” Culler (Brittney Young Culler), Ashley Nicole Culler, Destiny “Olivia” Black and Hudson Cole Black; and three great-grandchildren, Ellison Culler, Reeve Culler and Tatum Culler.

Gerry’s funeral will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Pastor Paul Haber officiating. The family will receive friends following the service on Tuesday at A Southern Touch at the Estate, 710 S. Caroline St., Rockingham, NC, where refreshments will be served. Private interment will be at Ellerbe Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, she requested to donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in either Raleigh or Charlotte. They are a nonprofit research foundation. The link to donate is https://www.cff.org/donate.
