OBITUARY: Grace Robinson Stubbs

Grace Robinson Stubbs, 80, of Bennettsville, South Carolina, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.

She was born March 28, 1943, in Marlboro County, daughter of the late William Kenny Robinson and Pearl Steen Robinson.

Grace was an active, lifetime member of Sandhills Wesleyan Church and served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a simple, conservative lady that was known to be frugal, yet business-minded. She also enjoyed the simple comforts of her home and kept a very clean home. Grace was known for being an excellent biscuit-maker. She truly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas Stubbs Sr.; infant daughter, Amanda Stubbs; and siblings, S.J. Robinson, William “Billy” Kenny Robinson Jr., Earl “Logen” Robinson, Eula Mae Grant and Lois Robinson Marlowe.

Grace is survived by her children, Melinda Stubbs Keever (Bobby) of Cordova and James Stubbs Jr. (Patty) of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Lindsey Kay Herndon, Whitney Farron Herndon, James “Trey” Douglas Stubbs III and Matthew Aaron Stubbs; great-grandchildren, Danyael Legrand, Heaven Legrand, Alexa Ratliff and Zayden Herndon; brothers, Cecil “Popcorn” Robinson of Hamlet and Curtis Dean Robinson of Bennettsville; sisters, Beatrice “Tudy” Maynor (Marv Powell) of Ellerbe, Vera Carter (Ted) of Ellerbe, Nancy Robinson of Rockingham and Gladys Quick of Bennettsville; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024 from 2-3 p.m. at Sandhills Wesleyan Church, Bennettsville.

The funeral service will begin, immediately following the visitation, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Smith, Pastor June Grant and Pastor Wayne Early officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
