OBITUARY: Hazel Stutts Brown

Hazel Stutts Brown, 89, of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.

She was born Sept. 19, 1933 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Austin B. and Grace Dawkins Stutts.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church and was the owner and operator of Brown Termite & Pest Control.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Walker Brown; a grandson, Chase Brown; sisters, Edith Stutts and Margaret Watts; and a brother, A.B. Stutts.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, Sept. 1, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Eastside Cemetery with Dr. Jim Lankford officiating.

Surviving are sons, Greg Brown and wife Shari of Rockingham, Douglas Walker Brown Jr. of Chapel Hill and Garry Brown of Rockingham; grandchildren, Judson Brown, Cora Brown, Bruce Brown, Paul Brown and wife Karen, Chris Brown and wife Katie and Max Brown; great-grandchildren, Porter, Isla, Ava, Colton, Jezabel, Clementine, Delia and Violeta.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at her home.
