WADESBORO — On Wednesday, March 1, 2023, Mr. Herbert Wayland Wiggins Jr., 65, passed away peacefully at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023 in the chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Chance officiating.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Herb was born Oct. 12, 1957 in Moore County, and was a son of Irma Dennis Wiggins Poplin and the late Herbert Wayland Wiggins.
He attended Anson County Public Schools and he completed his high school equivalency while in the United States Army. He was employed with Superior Cranes in Rockingham as a project manager.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Irma Poplin of Wadesboro; his wife, Linda Wiggins of the home; his daughter, Deana Wiggins of Eden; his stepchildren, Brittney Kay Hildreth of Lilesville, Mili Nguyen and Tyler Nguyen both of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Wynter Wiggins of Eden, Autumn Wiggins of Danville, Virginia, and Trysten Wiggins of Radford, Virginia; great-grandson, Harper Wiggins of Danville, Virginia; his stepsister, Judy Ann of Indiana; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, James Holbrook and wife, Ann of Latta, South Carolina and Ester Jones of Wadesboro; his niece, Wyanette Woodle and family of Latta, South Carolina; and his critters, Berta Kay, Blossom and Daisy May.
Herb was the greatest husband, father, son, and friend. He loved his job, but most of all he loved God and his family. He had the biggest heart and would help anyone any way he could, even if it took his last dollar to help someone in need.
He touched many lives with his wit, his need to talk about God, be a mentor or just a listening ear. He had an amazing grin and he always had something going on. He simply loved life!
His family is grateful for all the love and kindness shown during his period of declining health and especially to his work family at Superior Cranes and recently to Hospice of Union County.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McWhorter Hospice House, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe NC 28110.
