OBITUARY: Homer ‘Chip’ Maness Jr.

GOLDSBORO — Homer L. “Chip” Maness Jr. of O’Berry Center in Goldsboro, formerly of Rockingham, passed away on Aug. 22, 2022.

Chip was born in Rockingham on Nov. 8, 1958 and was the son of Homer Sr. and Mabel Yates Maness.

Chip is preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by Martha Yates Bellamy (Aunt Marty) of Rockingham; guardian, Gus Bellamy; cousins, Rosalyn Sinclair of Rockingham and Donna Kay Cribb of Valley, Alabama; special cousins, Maranda Currie of Rockingham, Paige Loyd of Southern Pines, Meagan Bellamy of Wilmington, Heather Bellamy of Rockingham, and Summer Currie of Rockingham. He is also survived by his aunts Ann Yates and Joyce Yates and a host of cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3 at West Rockingham United Methodist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Paul Haber and the Rev. Dr. Susan Willhauck. The family will receive friends after the service. The family requests everyone to wear red, white or blue.
