Iris J. LeGrand, 60, was called to her eternal rest on Dec. 5, 2024, at the home of her daughter, Tasheka Travers, in Fayetteville.
Iris was a beautiful and loving soul. She had a genuine smile and enjoyed old school music and gospel. Throughout her life and during her battle with cancer, her ultimate concern was the wellbeing of children, siblings, nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Annie LeGrand Green and Carl Strong, and two brothers, Marcus Wall and Carl Morrison, preceded her in death.
Iris leaves to cherish her memory: her three children, Tasheka Travers, Quentin Pearson and Kenya Hester; one granddaughter, Love Pearson; her significant other, Lennie James; three sisters, Hermione Harris, Cassandra Wall and Coretta Wall-Pickett; two brothers, Jeff Scott and Greg Wall; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 at Ashley Chapel AME Zion Church, 332 Mizpah Road, Rockingham.
Public viewing will be Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, noon until 5 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 1021 E. Washington St., Rockingham.
The family will receive friends and visitors at 181 Mizpah Road, Rockingham.
