OBITUARY: Jack Norman Wallace Sr.

Jack Norman Wallace Sr., 87, of Hoffman, passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

Jack was a son of the late Leonard Lee Wallace and Elsie Dellinger Wallace. He was born November 4, 1936, in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was also raised.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Phyllis Wallace.

Shortly after meeting his wife, Jack would go on to own and operate his own business of leather crafting for several years. Outside of work, Jack loved to garden and was an avid fan of college basketball. His team of choice was N.C. State — go Wolfpack!

Mr. Wallace is survived by his children, Jack Wallace Jr. (Sharon) of Rockingham, Justin Wallace (Melinda) of Southern Pines and Jamie Getzmeyer (Brian) of Rogers City, Michigan; grandchildren, Shana Wallace, Justin Lee Wallace, Jonas Lee Getzmeyer, Zachary Wallace, Jerry Haigler and Olivia Wallace; and a brother, Tommy Lee Wallace.

A committal service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, at Richmond Co. Memorial Park’s mausoleum chapel to account for the rain. Service will begin at 12:30 p.m. with James Mims officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to have memorial donations be made out to Richmond County Hospice Haven at 1119 N. U.S. 1, Rockingham, NC 28379. Although Mr. Wallace was not under hospice care, he was still very appreciative of their attentive care with his wife, Phyllis before her passing in December.

Online memorials can be made at watson-kingfuneralhome.com. Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham is assisting the Wallace family.
