OBITUARY: James ‘Bo’ Griggs

James “Bo” Griggs, of Rockingham, passed away Monday Aug. 19, 2024.

Bo was a son of the late Alvie and Naomi Griggs, born Aug. 15, 1951, in Rockingham.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Glenda Griggs Singleton and Charles Wesley Griggs.

Bo was a beloved member of his community. He worked over 50 years at Barnes Napa Auto Parts, working as a manager. Bo loved to stay busy, whether it be at work or cutting someone’s grass in his off time. Bo was also an avid fan of old westerns and older cars.

Bo was a devoted man to his faith. He attended church at Sweet Haven Church where he served as a Deacon. After retiring last summer, Bo started up his own landscaping business and continued to serve his community. Bo enjoyed nature, being outside and admiring the beautiful world he inhabited.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Sweet Haven Church from 2-3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23, 2024. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Kane McKenzie and Pastor Doug Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Lake Methodist Church Cemetery.

Bo is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vikki Griggs; son James “Jamie” Griggs Jr.; grandchildren, Jade Griggs, Savannah Rodrick (Kyle) and James “Tripp” Griggs III; a brother, Harold Gene Griggs; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends, all of whom love and miss him dearly.
