ROCKINGHAM — James “Jimmy” Edward Cobbler, 72, of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
He was born Jan. 23, 1950, in Richmond County, son of the late James Aldi Cobbler and Bessie Belton Cobbler.
Jimmy was a great automobile mechanic and was owner of Jim’s Auto Repair. He loved hunting and fishing with his favorite hunting buddies, Ronnie Rollins and Robert Cobler.
He was a member of NC Legends Motorcycle Club where he participated in toy runs and charity events for the community for many years. His love for speed was displayed at the Ellerbe Lions Club lawnmower races — but most of all, Jimmy was a family man who enjoyed sitting on his porch spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bernice Bourgeois, Thomas Cobler, Junior Cobbler, Teenie Hill, Jack Cobbler, Nancy Hayes, Shirley Carlisle, Ray Cobbler and Jerry Cobbler.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of more than 54 years, Peggy Harding Cobbler of the home; children, Lisa Cobbler Taylor (Keith) of Hamlet, Jenny Cobbler Beavers (Daniel) of Rockingham, Angela Cobbler (Cris) of Rockingham, and Harold Parker Jr. (Brittney) of Rockingham; sisters, Bobby Richardson (Harry) of Rockingham and Louise Bell (Bob) of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Ragan Franklin (JR Pena), Steve Franklin (Kelli), Nicole White (Seth), James Fenner, Destiny Shoe, Jada Harris, Robi Shoe and Destiny Parker; and great-grandchildren, Eli White, Kai White, Tillery Franklin, Gatlin Franklin, Gracie Lee Tyler and Emery Burrows.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the home on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022 from 1-4 p.m.
