OBITUARY: James Elliot Phillips

James “Jim” Elliott Phillips, 81, of Aberdeen, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2024.

He was born Nov. 9, 1942, in Bennettsville, South Carolina, son of the late Coy Lee Phillips, Sr. and Annie Laura Skipper Phillips.

Although Jim lived a simple life, he had strong values. Nothing was more important to him than his family and church family. He was an intelligent, brilliant man that always kept up with family birthdays. Even through life’s challenges, he always had interest in family affairs because that’s what mattered to him.

Jim enjoyed wearing his caps, yet also loved dressing in a suit. His favorite times were long rides and enjoyed honey buns and a Coca-Cola. He loved being around children, especially at Christmas time, and getting gifts. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Coy Lee Phillips Jr.; and his sister, Thena Phillips Owens.

Jim is survived by his nieces, Rennie Hunsucker (Guy) of Bennettsville, South Carolina, and Cecilia Pearson (Randy) of Gibson.
