OBITUARY: Judith Yvonne Davis

Judith “Judy” Yvonne Davis, 60, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.

She was born Sept. 12, 1963 in Scotland County, daughter of the late John Winston Davis Sr. and Virginia Carolyn Averitt Davis.

Judy worked with Sopakco as an account manager for nearly the last 20 years. She was known for her sweetness, and was always happy with a radiant smile. Her beauty was not only visible outwardly, but she had a beautiful heart and soul that genuinely thought of others before herself.

Growing up as a child and throughout her life, one of Judy’s favorite places to visit was the beach, whether with her family, or with some of her friends, including Shari and Betty. And in her later years, another favorite of hers was just being home with Gracie and their dog, Lula. Judy was a wonderful mother and Nana, and she loved her family dearly.

During the last several years, Judy fought hard with battling ALK-positive lung cancer, which is a rare form of non-smoker, metastatic cancer. She was a true fighter and wanted to inform everyone about the type of cancer she faced. Even in her fight, she never gave up and always kept a smile. Her battle was not lost and her reward is great.

Along with her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Ann Davis; and sister-in-law, Kathy Davis.
