OBITUARY: Kenneth Woodrow Ard

Kenneth Woodrow Ard, a cherished husband, father, brother and friend, passed away peacefully in Richmond County, North Carolina, on Nov. 24, 2024 at the age of 64.

Born on March 9, 1960, in Richmond County, Kenneth lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to those around him.

A man of many talents, Kenneth built a successful career in construction and even owned his own vinyl siding company, contributing significantly to his community by helping to build motels and create spaces where families could gather and make memories. His hardworking spirit was matched only by his kind and caring nature, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who crossed his path.

Kenneth was not just a skilled tradesman; he was a lover of life’s simple pleasures. Those closest to him will fondly remember his love for fishing, particularly the peaceful moments spent by the water. He had a spirit of adventure, often found riding motorcycles on open roads, with the wind in his hair and a smile on his face. Evenings would find him comfortably settled in front of the television, enjoying his favorite Westerns, which perfectly suited his fun-loving personality.

He was a dedicated family man, and his proudest accomplishments were his children. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Pankey Ard; and their beautiful children, Holly Kiker (Jake), Logan Ard, Shane Ard, Reggie Morrison, Carla Shelly (Josh) and Dana Bryant (Chris); 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild — each who carries a piece of him within them, embodying his kindness, humor, and unwavering support.

Kenneth’s heartache extends to the memory of his children who passed before him: Courtney Ard, Ericka Dianne Ard and Jennifer Dawn Ard; as well as his sister, Tiny Collins. Their spirits remain with him, and he cherished the time he had with them.

For those wishing to pay their respects, visitation will be held on Nov. 27, 2024, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Carter Funeral Homes in Rockingham, North Carolina with the Rev. Mike Childers and the Rev. Eddie Hildreth officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
