OBITUARY: Lanny Ross Jacobs

ROCKINGHAM — Lanny Ross Jacobs, 81, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Atrium Health, Cabarrus.

He was born Sept. 21, 1941, in Robeson County, son of the late Voyt and Mancy Lowery Jacobs.

Lanny attended Jefferson Park Church. He was self-employed as a used car salesman for many years. His love to laugh was evident to anyone who knew him. He loved people, loved to cook and eat, and especially loved his family. He was an avid South Carolina Gamecocks fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of over 47 years, Joyce Jacobs; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Lanny is survived by his loving wife, Anita Jacobs of the home; children, Donna Derbes (Joe) of Rockingham, Tim Jacobs (Tina) of Rockingham, Dwayne Jacobs of N. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Leslie King (John) of Laurinburg, and Rhonda Roberts of Rock Hill, South Carolina; grandchildren, Ashley Windham (Matt), Sara Jeanne Ethridge (Brandon), Matthew Garrett Jacobs (Hanna), Sarah Beth Jacobs (Sean Kent), Kristen Renner (Alex), Katelyn Stuteville, Kirk Stuteville, and Bella King; great-grandchildren, Harrison, Sullivan and Harlow; brother, Dennis Jacobs (Annie) of Rockingham; sister, Sheila Nesmith (Mike) of Alabama; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Jefferson Park Church with Pastor Chris Jacobs officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2 p.m.
