ROCKINGHAM — Larrie “JR” Monroe McLester Jr., 40, of Rockingham, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 22, 2023.
He was born July 15, 1982, in Anson County, son of Larrie Monroe McLester Sr. and the late Janet Sue Gibson McLester.
JR graduated high school at Anson High School in Wadesboro and obtained his associate degree from South Piedmont Community College.
For the last 10 years, he worked as an Over-the-Road truck driver, more recently with Western Express Trucking. He loved playing video games and watching movies. Often he would call his dad to tell him a new joke. JR will be dearly missed by his family.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Janet Sue Gibson McLester; brother, Benjamin McLester; and stepsister, Gita Williams.
JR is survived by his father and stepmother, Larrie Monroe McLester Sr. and Shirley Mills of Rockingham; stepbrothers, Joey Herberg (Michelle) and Raymond Mills (Bridget), all of Hamlet; stepsister, Ruth Ann McLester (BJ) of Rockingham; and several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held privately by the family.
