OBITUARY: Larry Clinton Cassidy

Larry Clinton Cassidy, 79, of Rockingham, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024.

Larry was the son of the late Ernest Clinton Cassidy and Pearl Louise Campbell Cassidy. Larry was born April 11, 1944, in Rockingham.

Larry was a graduate of Rohanen High School where he was infamously known for his skill in drumming. His band, The Satellites, were well known in their community and even played on The Lawrence Welk Show. Larry worked in the textile mill for a few years following his graduation. He also worked in landscaping for several years before retirement.

Outside of work, Larry loved being outside in the yard and working. He loved raising his chickens, playing golf, and traveling to the beaches and mountains with his wife, Elaine. Larry was a man of God that not only loved his family, but his church family also had a special place in his heart. He belonged to Church of God of Prophecy in Rockingham and had been a faithful member for many years. Larry loved his family and cherished his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, as of March 22, he had been married to Elaine for 60 blissful years. Larry is a man that will sorely be missed.

Larry is survived by his beautiful wife, Elaine Cassidy of the home; daughters Tammy Odom (Regan) of Bakersville, North Carolina, and Aprille Thrift of Rockingham; grandchildren Brandy Warren, Tekeesha Odom-Crisp and Courtney Pace; great-grandchildren Austin Warren, Kaden Warren, Annalynn Pace, Sophia Crisp and Jordan Mumford.

Family will receive friends for visitation at Church of God of Prophecy in Rockingham from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024. Funeral service will be held at Church of God of Prophecy Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Gilmore officiating.
