Linda Alexander, 66, of Rockingham went to be with the Lord at Richmond County Hospice Haven, Nov. 5, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Linda was born Dec. 24, 1957 in Pickens County, South Carolina. She was a daughter of the late Elbert and Jessie Alexander.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ricky Goodwin; her aunt, Betty Hall, who was a mother figure to Linda; and the father to her son, John Locklear Sr.
Linda was raised in South Carolina and graduated from Carolina High in Greeneville. She would go on to obtain her associate degree in accounting from Richmond Community College in Hamlet. For 15 years, Linda worked for Rockingham’s Housing Authority as an accountant.
Outside of work, Linda was an avid fan of decorating and interior design, especially painting. She often said that she never met a wall that she wouldn’t paint. Linda was loving and caring woman that loved her family. Linda can be described by her son, and all the lives she touched, as one of the most strong and brave women they ever knew. Linda was a beautiful soul who will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
Linda is survived by her son, John Locklear Jr., of Wagram; sisters, Dianne Cheek (Madison) of Gibson and Tracy Burkhart of Greeneville, South Carolina; nephews, Shane Culbreth, Memphis Culbreth and Robert Hall; special friend, whom she considered a sister, Cathy Jackson and her church family of Joy Freewill Baptist.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 1-2 p.m. at Joy Freewill Baptist Friday, Nov. 8, 2024. A memorial service will commence at 2 p.m. with the Rev. June Grant officiating.
The family would like to thank Richmond County Hospice for their tentative care for Linda in her final days.
